We are thrilled to announce that Bert Ramlot, a member of our research group, has achieved 2nd place in the mtech+ prize for his master’s dissertation on Compression techniques for 3D Gaussian Splatting.
Bert’s work delves into the cutting-edge domain of 3D Gaussian splatting, a technique that employs multivariate normal distributions for efficient representation of 3D scenes. His dissertation explores novel compression techniques that significantly enhance the performance of this method, making it more practical for real-world applications such as virtual reality, gaming, and computer graphics.
As part of the mtech+ prize, Bert created a Dutch article and pitch that playfully explains his research to the broader public.
