Emiel Deprost
PhD Student
Emiel is a PhD student at IDLab-MEDIA. He obtained his MSc in Electronics & ICT engineering in 2019 and started a PhD in 2019. In 2020 he obtained funding from the Research Foundation - Flanders (FWO).
His doctoral research focuses on the use of machine learning to improve the measurement and preservation of plant biodiversity in grasslands. Currently, he researches computer vision techniques for the automated annotation of plants from high-resolution images taken by UAV’s. Emiel has high interests in computer vision, time-series data, embedded systems and loves to make interactive visualizations.
